Minimal Side Effects of Cancer Treatment

Management of cancer care is growing. However, based on international health standards, the treatment of cancer consists of chemotherapy action, surgery, and radiation. Unfortunately, conventional methods are still not ideal because not all patients are robust in the face of such treatment side effects.

China's first identical treatment with herbs, but now we are developing methods to combine Western medicine and Eastern

Chemotherapy, for example, drugs are not only attacks cancer cells but also healthy cells. Most patients also have to struggle with side effects such as nausea, weakness, to hair loss. Innovation in the treatment of tumors enough to give the maximum of therapy with lesser side effects is a minimally invasive method.
China is the country most aggressively developed the method. The principle of minimally invasive method is to attack only cancer cells in the patient's body, so that side effects can be localized and minor injuries sayatannya.
Lin Zhi Cheng, chairman of the medical group that oversees the BOAI Modern Hospital Guangzhou, said the focus of treatment with minimally invasive methods are a long way, complete, save costs, and rapid convalescence.
"It used Chinese medicine herbal is identical with, but we are now developing methods to combine Western and Eastern medicine. Cancer is a critical illness so that when combined with the method of eastern faster patient recovery," he said during a visit of the Indonesian media, in Guangzhou, China, Saturday (04.28.12).
Modern Hospital Guangzhou, there are 5 techniques in minimally invasive therapy to be superior, such as intra-arterial intervention (local chemotherapy), planting seeds radiopartikel, radiofrequency ablation, cyrosurgery (freezing the tumor cells), as well as nanotechnology methods.
According to dr. Peng Xiao Chi, chairman of the Guangzhou Modern Hospital oncology team, the type and method of treatment will be tailored to the type of cancer, the malignancy, and the condition of the patient. But the point is to kill cancer cells by a variety of ways.
"Sometimes patients have to perform two or more methods, for example if it has spread to other organs. After one treatment method will be evaluated to determine whether or not other methods," said Peng.
He added the success rate of early stage cancer with minimally invasive methods of achieving 90 per cent, whereas in patients with stage being the success rate reached 60 percent. "In late-stage cancer treatment aims to prolong life and reduce pain," he said.
Invasive treatment methods, according to Lin, was actually developed in advanced countries like the United States and Europe. However, according to flight hours doctors in China in conducting the method is higher because more of its population.
"For example, for measures of heart bypass, doctors in the U.S. can do this action 10 times a month, while the doctors we can do it 4 times a day," said Lin.
Peng added, the average cancer doctor in Guangzhou can perform local actions of chemotherapy to 2,000 times per year. "Time flies and techniques affect the accuracy of treatment," he said.
In terms of cost, minimally invasive method is more expensive than conventional methods. For example, chemotherapy is necessary for the local method costs about 15,000 RMB (about USD 22 million) not including the cost of room and medicine. Even so, according to some patients who met Indonesia RS.Modern Kompas.com in Guangzhou, the cost is much cheaper compared to Singapore for treatment. No wonder the hospital is visited by many foreign nationals, 40 percent of his patients is a citizen of Indonesia.
"I am very scared with conventional chemotherapy or surgery, so I chose to go to here. In addition, in terms of cost, including light," said Yati (71), breast cancer patients who experienced spread of cancer cells to the lung.
Although minimally invasive method is quite effective against cancer, according to Peng but not all cancers can be treated with this method. "To have conventional chemotherapy cancer leukemia. But there is also a cancer that had to be dissected. All depends on the type and location of the cancer," he said.
In practice, cancer therapy is a systematic project which centers on the patient to increase life expectancy and quality of life. With this minimally invasive method to patients undergoing treatment with the maximum with minimal side effects.
