Prevent Neck Pain, Here's How!

Throughout our lives, neck like a prop load equal to the weight of a bowling ball. No wonder if once in a while neck can become stiff and sore. Coupled with an incorrect posture, become stiff in the neck area complaints more often perceived.

According to the neurologist of the Central General Hospital Jakarta Fatmawati dr. Maysam Irawati, Sp.S, there are many things that cause pain in the neck. But the cause of most of the less stretching of the neck muscles while working.

"Especially for those who are every day more work at the computer with your head straight and less stretching.'s Neck so often feel pain," said Maysam in a talk show themed 'Comfortable Working Without Pain' some time ago.


At times, menegangnya neck muscles can irritate nerves or affect the scalp (occipital) close to the muscle. This is what causes the pain spread to the back of the head, behind one ear, and the side of the scalp. This is called occipital neuralgia.

Neck pain can also be caused by a pinched nerve (cervical radiculopathy). The symptoms are a sense of numbness or tingling, weakness in arms, sometimes accompanied by a sense of drift when walking.

"If the neck pain radiating to the arm that is felt, you should be aware, there are fears that pinched nerve," said Maysam.

Neck pain can actually be prevented by preventing the stiffness of the neck and regular exercise. "Do stretching on the sidelines of a job, a maximum of once every 3 hours," he said.

Also keep correct posture so that the neck muscles to support the neck properly. Patients are also advised exercises to relax the muscles in the neck and collarbone maintain joint function optimally.
