Lower Cholesterol with Two Apples Every Day


The habit of eating apples, at least two pieces per day, was effective for preventing heart disease. That was because apple has the effect of lowering cholesterol, especially bad cholesterol.

Benefits of apples to prevent heart disease is more pronounced in women who had menopause. Menopausal women are at high risk of heart disease and stroke.


In a research proven, women who for six months regularly eat apples every day cholesterol levels 25 percent lower than those who ate no apples.

Research published in the journal Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is shown after three months, total cholesterol levels from eating the apple fell to 9 percent and bad cholesterol levels down 16 percent.

After six months, the decline was sharper again, which is down 13 per cent of total cholesterol and bad cholesterol up to 24 percent.

For comparison, in this study the researchers also analyzed respondents who ate plums (prunes). In this group also decreased cholesterol but only slightly.

The researchers concluded that consumption of medium-sized apples as much as two pieces every day for three months can lower cholesterol. Previous research in Poland mentioned regularly eat apples can keep a person from colon cancer.
